Software Project Lead — building the software spine of a wholesale
food business that ran on phone calls and paper.
The mandate
Zee Foods moves product to restaurants and markets across the
region. When I arrived, orders lived in text threads, inventory in
a spreadsheet, and the day's deliveries in the driver's head. The
brief: replace that with software the staff would actually use,
without pausing the business to do it.
What shipped
The order desk
TypeScript · Postgres · in production
A single console where staff take wholesale orders against live
inventory. It replaced the phone-and-paper flow: an order that
took minutes of transcription now takes seconds, and stock can
no longer be sold twice.
The day's orders compile into per-driver run sheets — stops
ordered, cases counted, invoices attached. What the drivers used
to reconstruct each morning is now printed before they arrive.
The ledger
Reporting · in progress
Sales and inventory roll up into a weekly view the owners read
on Mondays. The business can now see which accounts grow and
which products sit — questions that used to be answered by
feel.
